Technology Coordinator, Region 5
Tony Dutra is currently the Region 5 Technology Coordinator at USF in the Florida PS/RtI Technology and Learning Connections project that supports Assistive Technology, Accessible Educational Materials, Instructional Technology, Student Engagement, Florida Standards, and Universal Design for Learning. He also serves as the liaison for higher education for the Florida Council for Instructional Technology Leaders.
Tony is a certified Exceptional Student Educator and is a National Board Certified teacher as an Exceptional Needs Specialist: Early Childhood through Young Adult. He has 14 years of classroom teaching experience with low incidence and high incidence students with special needs. During his 14 years as an educator he supported students in multiple settings including IND self-contained classrooms, varying exceptionalities classrooms, inclusion classrooms, and as the ESE Specialist (Local Educational Agency representative). Tony was selected by his peers and was awarded the 2010 Broward County Public Schools Teacher of the Year Award. He was also the recipient of the Microsoft Innovative Teacher of the Year Award 2007. Tony holds a BA in Varying Exceptionalities; Exceptional Student Education, a Master of Science Degree in Instructional Technology, and is currently in the dissertation process for his PhD in Educational Leadership, specializing in Educational Technology.
